Street style star, instagrammer and fashion influencer Diona Ciobanu walks us through her prep for a night out at the Cannes film festival…

‘Our red carpet preparations start with hair stylist Stephane. My hair is freshly-washed so we’ve put some mousse in and are going for an airy blow dry.’

‘I’ve decided to go for a more special hairstyle, think mermaids, braids, bed hair. I was quite nervous about how it was going to turn out at first because of all the different references!’

‘Nails next, but can we take 5 seconds to appreciate my hair first please? It’s perfect balance between romantic and cool. On nails, we went for a nude Dior Vernis in one of my favourite shades, Muguet.’

‘A few days in St Tropez reminded me how much I loved the 60s, so for my makeup look, I asked for something Sophia Loren/Brigitte Bardot inspired. Make-Up Artist Jamie Coombes started by drawing a line in my crease to create that old school look and slowly worked his way along my lash line with the iconic Diorshow Art Pen.’

‘The most difficult part of the eye makeup is done, but we still needed to add the dramatic mascara…. Diorshow Pump ‘N’ Volume is the ultimate mascara to create that maximum false lash effect for that retro look we wanted.’

‘For the lips, it was amazing to be one of the first to try Dior’s new Lip Tattoo. Jamie applied that first, but we wanted to add a more nude colour on top so we used the Lip Maximizer as well as the new Addict Laquer stick in Rolling (one of my faves!).’

‘The earrings I chose for tonight are simple yet mesmerising de Grisogono pieces. They really work with the open neck and retro makeup look.’

‘My dress for tonight very much reflects the “mermaid look” I mentioned earlier. It’s probably one of the few dresses from the SS17 collection that hasn’t been everywhere. I absolutely love the greyish blue as well as the fencing inspired top.’

‘… But of course a complete Dior look includes an unseen spray of the upcoming Miss Dior perfume. I was thrilled to be in the South of France for the launch of the new Miss Dior perfume, too.’

‘I can’t fit much in my bag, but I’ve slipped in my lipstick before heading out into the warm evening. Au revoir!’
