We think so…

Who doesn’t love a climactic on-screen kiss? Not us, that’s for sure – and if it’s in the rain, so much the better.

From Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard’s iconic embrace in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, to Romeo & Juliet’s elevator smooch and Pretty Woman’s fire escape kiss: it would be fair to say that Hollywood has given us some fairly unrealistic standards when it comes to dating over the years.

As it happens, today is International Kissing Day. What better way to celebrate then with just a few of our favourite on-screen kisses?

There are romantic movies and then there are these romantic movies: the ones that feature some of the most iconic, adventurous and (quite frankly) craziest kisses of all time. Upside down, in the sand, in the rain, braving the bow of a doomed passenger liner (don’t try that one at home, kids) – you name it, they’ve imagined it, and now we get to relive them all over again…

Ready? Let’s go…

1. Breakfast At Tiffany’s

Who hasn’t reached for the kleenex when Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard *finally* embrace in the rain before Henry Mancini’s Moon River crescendos? NOBODY, that’s who.

2. Four Weddings And A Funeral

We just can’t get enough of rain-soaked kissing. We remain unconvinced that this has ever happened in real life.

3. The Notebook

No, seriously. Has this *ever* happened?

4. Gone With The Wind

And we’re guessing that person is you, Clark? A little less forceful, maybe? Just a thought…

5. From Here To Eternity

Deborah Kerr threw caution to the wind in 1953. It must have taken her days to get all that sand out of her swimwear (the fact that this thought even crossed our mind probably explains why we’ve never frolicked in the surf.)

6. Romeo & Juliet

We love a 360 degree snog-a-thon in an elevator and if it’s directed by Baz Luhrmann then so much the better.

7. Spider-Man

Upside down kissing is underrated – and if it didn’t require 24 hours of training in a Cirque Du Soleil boot camp, we’d be all over it.

8. Ghost

This is the moment Molly (Demi Moore) kisses her mudered boyfriend Sam (Patrick Swayze) by *actually* kissing reluctant psychic Oda Mae (Whoopi Goldberg) – who is channeling said murdered boyfriend by allowing him to possess her body. Confused? That’s Hollywood for you. Just go with it.

9. Titanic

Careful, Kate – you’ll pull your neck out kissing like that. What a shame she didn’t budge over a bit on that raft – kisses like that don’t come along on every cruise.

10. Pretty Woman

Much like larking about on the bow of a ship, we wouldn’t recommend messing about on a fire escape, either. That’s just another accident waiting to happen….
