No one could handle it, not even Anna Wintour.

The Queen took to the FROW today and we lost it. Big time. For the first time ever Her Majesty swapped the throne for the FROW to present the inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design to designer, Richard Quinn.

According to Buckingham Palace itself, the award from created, “in recognition of the role the fashion industry plays in society and diplomacy, [and] be awarded annually to an emerging British fashion designer who shows talent and originality, whilst demonstrating value to the community and/or sustainable policies.”

When presenting the award to Quinn, the Queen was said to have called his work, “lovely.” All the feels, here! However whilst the entire showspace rippled with applause the Queen did not clap for the designer finale, as is usually custom.

Joining the Queen on the front row was Anna Wintour and Caroline Rush, who earlier gave the Queen a tour of the British Fashion Council show space where our monarch paid particular attention to the millinery on display. One can’t wait to get her Royal Ascot order in, it seems.

The Queen however was seen to smile when she witnessed Richard Quinn’s looks accessorised with motorcycle helmets. Maybe something to try out when one isn’t have a great perm day?
