22 Dec 2017

Another year of failed resolutions? No matter. 2017 is coming to a close and even if you haven’t stuck to your guns on eating a little healthier and giving up chocolate forever, we got in touch with DesignMyNight on how to give the last 365 days the send off they deserve. From a glam Gatsby party in Birmingham with fireworks and bottomless fizz to an Après-ski blowout in London with mind-blowing entertainment and actual snow blizzards, there are plenty of ways to welcome in 2018 all across the UK.

Cahoots’ Vintage New Year’s Knees-Up – London

Gather your gladrags and round up the troops. A slice of 1940’s New York is coming to London this December via Cahoots’ Vintage New Year’s Knees-Up. Welcoming you with a Moët & Chandon reception, your night will unravel with bottomless Belvedere cocktails and live entertainment from the Hotsie Totsies. Start practising the jitterbug and the lindy hop in your mirror right away though – there’s gonna be non-stop vintage tracks luring you onto the dance floor until well after midnight.

Après New Year’s Eve Ball – London

A flight to the Alps for New Year’s? Nah – not this time around. Not when Après New Year’s Eve Ball is in town. This cool-as-ice party is pulling out all the stops with ski lifts suspended from the ceiling and actual blizzards of snow. They’re gonna have entertainment too; we’re talking everything from acrobats to daring contortionists. All that aside, you’ll have a sparkling wine reception with hot and cold canapés, a four-course meal, and unlimited beer, wine, cider and soft drinks to look forward to.

Hush Presents: Secret Speakeasy – London

‘Mad Dog’ Moriziano has been released from prison and he’s coming back to take over the Hush Gin Joint. The only problem? It’s now run by his rival Johnny ‘The Doctor’ – who owes him alotta dosh. Will the cops arrive before it all kicks off and somebody’s killed? This New Year’s Eve event will unfold before your very eyes as you’re taken through 1920’s America with moonshine, live jazz and interactive actors. With fizz and gourmet hot dogs to ring in the New Year at 12am and an optional three-course meal ticket, this is one of London’s quirkiest events of the year.

Club Noir New Year’s Eve – Glasgow

Grab a box of Kleenex. The world’s biggest cabaret and burlesque show, Club Noir, is having its last ever show this year – but for one final hurrah, they’re going out big with a massive New Year’s Eve showdown. You can look forward to two dazzling cabaret performances, one before, and one after midnight. With big celebrations and a foot-stomping soundtrack, it’s going to be one of Glasgow’s best New Year’s Eve parties.

A Tale Of Two Floors – Birmingham

If you’ve got a thing for gin, you might want to cancel your plans for 31st December. Jekyll and Hyde are throwing a Tale of Two Floors shindig where you can either head upstairs to the Gin Parlour for an indulgent gin, cheese and charcuterie experience – or if you want a night that’s a little bit more off-the-wall, you can stay on the ground floor for Mr Hyde’s Swinging New Year’s Eve do. Tickets to this part of the show are only £10 and they’ll get you two cocktails.

Peaky Blinders Cabaret Mansion Party – Brighton

You’re to attend the Cabaret Mansion Party, by order of the Peaky Blinders. This New Year’s Eve shindig that’s dedicated to the hit TV series is going to be the place to be on December 31st, with free-flowing prosecco for an entire hour, sultry cabaret performances and three DJs spinning a mix of retro, acid jazz and a few modern tunes thrown in for good measure.

It’s going to have a few gambling hideaways too, but seeing as they’re technically illegal, you’ll have a job finding them.

A Private Chef For New Year’s Eve – Cardiff

If you feel like you’ve been there, done that and got the t-shirt for New Year’s, we’ve got just the thing. Swap the jostling crowds and never ending cues for staying in and having a private chef come to your home. For £100 per person, you can have your own private chef rustle up a delicious four-course meal, tailored to your preferences beforehand, of course. Lasting for three hours, it’s a great way to spend the 31st with your friends, minus any hassle or let downs.

Ballie Ballerson New Year’s Ball Out – London

Take a step back from reality this New Year’s and grab a ticket for Ballie Ballerson. This quirky adult ball pit will see you diving into 2018 with one million balls and a flute of Champagne come midnight. They have a selection of cocktails that are inspired by retro sweets too, and you have the option of visiting Rascals next door for a pre-warm up two-course meal of mezcal glazed pork belly and Eton mess.

The Great Gatsby New Year’s Eve Party – Birmingham

If you want to see in the New Year with a glamorous soiree, The Great Gatsby New Year’s Eve Party at Olivia’s the only place for you. Being 1920’s-themed, you’ll need to get your hands on a dapper dress for the night, but it will all be worth it as you shimmy the night away to a stellar line up of live music. Promising a Champagne reception, great performances and a firework show – it’s Birmingham’s number one New Year’s Eve party.

New Year’s Eve Wonderball Party – London

Bounce is one of London’s coolest ping pong bars and they recently launched Wonderball, which is basically like one giant computer game where the paddle is your controller. To celebrate, they’re hosting a huge party in its name. Expect UV face paint artists, happy hour from 8pm – 10pm, games of Round the Table and non-stop tunes until 3am.

Ultimate Power – New Year’s Eve – Manchester

Are you the friend that’s constantly singing in the shower? The one that knows every song off by heart and thinks/knows they’re the next Mariah Carey? You’ll be wanting a ticket to Ultimate Power on 31st December, then. Their New Year’s Eve bash will blast out all the greatest hits known to man under one roof, and you better have your vocal cords at the ready ‘cause the music won’t be wavering until 4am in the morning.
